Survey of information security in the Slovak Republic
In the Slovak Republic information security is improving, although it is still far from optimum.
The goal of the survey was to pick up the trends and related qualitative and quantitative information security changes compared to historically first information security survey in Slovakia. Comments by the authors of the survey offer first starting points for interpretation of the information security survey results. They did not aim at comprehensive report of the status and perspectives of the surveyed topic, but rather to draw the attention of readers and to provoke them to own assessment of the situation. The survey was realised by the Data Security Management journal in cooperation with KPMG Slovensko company and with the National Security Office. The survey is important also due to the possibility to compare the results with similar ones in the Czech Republic. Within the anonymous survey, organisations were answering the total of 64 detailed questions related to information security, classified into 12 thematic groups. 201 out of 804 questionnaires came back completed, and 175 thereof have been included into processing.
Compared to 2004, the survey reveals gradual improvement of the situation in information security management. Despite this, overall information security status is far from optimum.
