Protection Against Malicious Code
The present time sees mounting pressure for the protection of sophisticated network environments as well as remote user computer and network clients, growing in number, against more and more complex threats. In view of the fact that valuable critical assets are located on client systems (including remote computers), which are dispersed across the entire organization, it is necessary to secure control of all infrastructure entry points for presence of malicious code, viruses and unauthorized activities in line with security standards. Each such point must be fitted with an appropriate security tool to carry out regular system inspections.
The fundamental feature of antivirus systems is to prevent file systems and operation memory in network servers and client stations from being infected by malicious code. The antivirus system checks all file activities, blocking them or performing another scheduled action if known suspicious behavior is detected. In the case of unknown threats, the system evaluates suspicious activities based on heuristic analyses.
The system must have qualities of a centrally controlled solution centrally evaluating all security incidents that occur on client stations as well as network servers.
Main risks today include malicious code attacks via e-mail communication. For this reason it is necessary to prevent delivery of e-mails with malicious content before entering the corporate infrastructure. Systems used in the organization for electronic mail protection against spams and security risks are appropriate for this purpose.
